Food Pantry: 

All Travis County residents in need can get healthy food once every 30 days at the Travis County Community Center at Oak Hill. An ID is not required for the food pantry, but an application for the pantry will be needed. We will provide enough food for the household for approximately three days including frozen foods (when available). Food offered varies from week to week depending on availability. If you are able, please bring your own grocery bags with you when you come for a food pantry to help us go green.

There are many resources to help job seekers at the Community Center. Our Computer Resource room includes two work stations, a printer and a telephone. These are free to users for job search activities, and to apply for services. There is also current information about jobs and other services available on our Community Resources Bulletin board.

Our clothing closet is open during business hours to all individuals receiving services through Family Support Services. We have gently used clothing donated by various community members. We only have clothing available and don’t carry home goods. If you are interested in accessing the Clothing Closet please let someone at the front desk know.

We accept donations of gently used clothing. If you have clothing that you would like to donate please contact us at the main number or bring your donation by the community center. All our clothing is given out at no cost to our clients.

Our Clothing closet is sponsored by SW Family Fellowship Church which makes sure all donations are clean and ready to distribute. Many thanks to the great team of volunteers!

• Social Work Services
  • Social Workers and Caseworkers help clients in different ways at the Travis County Community Center in Oak Hill. Caseworkers focus on financial assistance such as rent or electric bills and work to help resolve short term issues. Caseworkers also provide supportive case management, supporting you and your family to meet clear goals or connect with other social service providers.
  • Our Social Worker is a licensed mental health clinician available to work with you over time in comprehensive case management. Working with the Social Worker, you may receive counseling services, help identifying goals, and work on complex, longer term needs. Please note that there may be a wait to see the Social Worker and she does not provide financial assistance.
• Drop In Social Work Services
  • On a first come, first served basis we provide one hour of counseling focused on your current concerns. This confidential service is provided by a licensed mental health professional Social Worker or trainee under professional guidance. This does NOT include financial assistance or psychiatric care such as medications.
  • Some people find they get what they need in one visit, or you can return for further drop in sessions in the future. We can also provide you with information about other resources here and in the community. The goal of drop-in services is for you to leave with some ideas and resources to begin to address your concerns.
  • Drop In services are available Thursdays at 10:00 am when the center is open.

Social Work brochure

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays our Senior Program provides a place for older adults to gather for games (bingo, dominoes, cards, bridge, puzzles), physical activity (Tai Chi, Chi Cong), conversation and a shared nutritious lunchtime meal

Congregate Meal sites are FREE for everyone and open to ANYONE age 60 or over! There is no charge for the meal, but a donation can be made to Meals on Wheels and More if the participants want to do so. Come share good conversation, fun games and a meal with us. We’ll be looking forward to your company, WE LOVE SEEING NEW FACES!

The Community Center has a meeting area that can be reserved for community benefiting events and groups. Space is available on a first come first served basis and can be used by groups that meet the following criteria:

1. No religious or political functions allowed at the Community Center
2. No charge or fee for attendees of any event held at the Community Center
3. Groups reserving the meeting area must have a community focus or benefit and cannot be for-profit.
4. Events at the Community Center must be open to the public
5. Users of Meeting area space must provide a $75 dollar deposit (check or money order no cash) made out to “West Rural Travis County Advisory Committee.” This deposit will be donated to that non-profit unless the check writer requests return of their check within 30 days of their event.

Examples of groups that use our Meeting area include 4-H groups, Girl Scouts, 12 step groups, classes for families involved in Truancy Court at the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, and Chinese Culture Groups.
