In a safe socially distanced drive through 197 children in 68 families received backpacks with personalized shoes, underwear, face mask, sanitizer, paper and folders, and haircut coupon. At that event, we did a drive-through pickup and also gave each family a pizza dinner and a family game (Jenga or Uno). This was our switch from past years where there was a community-wide event with play activities and dinner for the families.
In addition to helping families access Blue Santa and Brown Santa at the Community Center in 2020, as both these important programs went to online applications, the Oak Hill team also helped families who missed those deadlines through a partnership with SW Family Fellowship, WRTC Advisory Committee and the Southwest Austin Rotary club. To ensure safe social distancing the Brown Santa Oak Hill distribution this year was a drive-through system.
42 children in 14 families received 3+ presents and each family received a gift bag with a family tin of popcorn and HEB gift cards in amount of $25 per child (up to $150). We had wonderful volunteers from SW Family Fellowship, Southwest Austin Rotary and the West Rural Travis County Advisory Committee. Additionally, based on parent request, over half the children got coats donated by the Rotary.
