The District Clerk’s Office offers several ways to access records, including documents related to court cases, information available through the Public Information Act, and administrative records from state agency appeals.

Court Records: Free Online Search for Digital Copies

Court records are documents filed during court cases.

Public court records are available for online viewing at no cost.

If you need a digital version of public court records, this option is for you. You may be able to find the information you’re looking for without contacting our office.

Please note that the portal only includes the following cases:

  • Family/Civil: 2006 to the present
  • Criminal: 2008 to the present

All records can be accessed through the Online Case Records Search.

Unlike the general public, attorneys and law enforcement need to register to use the portal. Only active members of the State Bar of Texas who are in good standing to practice law and are subject to the disciplinary rules of the State Bar of Texas and Licensed Texas Certified Peace Officers are allowed to register.

Court Records: Paid Request for Physical Copies

Official, certified, and authenticated physical copies of court records must be request from our office.

If you need physical copies of court records for legal purposes, this option is for you. Records you can request include a certificate of divorce, a certificate of name change, an original petition, a final judgement, and more.

Open Records

Open records are documents and files available under the Public Information Act (PIA) to promote transparency in the government. They are internal documents available for public viewing under the law.

Please note that we can only help you with records from the Travis County District Clerk’s Office. We do not keep records of other Travis County offices.

Administrative Records

Administrative records are records from state agencies. They are part of the appeals process when decisions are challenged in district courts.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
