New Public Records Assistant (Beta)
Welcome to our new AI-assisted routing tool! We are testing this feature to help you quickly find the right Travis County department for your public information request. Simply describe the records you need in plain language, and the tool will guide you to the correct office.
Open the Public Records Assistant in a new tab.
Important details to keep in mind:
- This tool does not submit your request. It only identifies the correct department. Once directed, you must complete and submit that department's specific records request form.
- It cannot be used for communication. The tool is fully automated and cannot send messages to County staff.
- Travis County is decentralized. The County does not have a central open records department. A request submitted to one department does not count as a request to the entire county or any other office.
- Keep it public. Please do not enter sensitive or confidential information.
- Disclaimer: This tool is for informational purposes only, may occasionally make mistakes, and does not constitute legal advice.
