How to Apply for Financial Assistance through Travis County HHS&VS
Services Available at Central Austin
Food Pantry
The Travis County Community Center of Central Austin has a food pantry to provide healthy food to Travis County residents in need. Travis County residents may access any one of the Travis County Community Center food pantries once every 30 days. Food offered varies from week to week depending on availability.
Food Pantry Hours:
Monday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday* 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
*Opens late on Wednesdays for restocking
To receive a food pantry, call 512-854-4120 or come to the center during food pantry hours to make a same-day appointment. An application and photo identification are needed to get a food pantry. Please note that food pantry hours may be subject to change.
SNAP ("Food Stamps")
The Central Austin Community Center has computers available for people to use to access www.yourtexasbenefits.com to apply for, update, or renew SNAP and other benefits. The Community Center is a partner agency with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

The Travis County Community Center of Central Austin has public use computers that may be used to look for and apply for jobs. Additionally, clients participating in case management services may receive referrals and other job search assistance from their social worker or case manager as part of their case management plan.
The Travis County Community Center of Central Austin has a clothing closet available to provide free used clothing to Travis County residents in need. We have gently used clothing donated by community members. We do not carry home goods. To receive clothing, call 512-854-4120 or come to the center during clothing closet hours to make a same-day appointment. An application and photo identification are needed to get clothes.
Clothing Closet Hours
Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
(Hours are subject to change due to staff availability.)
We accept donations of gently used clothing. If you have clothing that you would like to donate, please bring your donation to the community center during our business hours. All our clothing is given out at no cost to our clients.
The Travis County Community Center of Central Austin has Licensed Social Workers and Supportive Case Managers available to provide services to residents of Travis County who want to develop a plan and create change in their lives. The Social Worker provides case management services, goal planning and assessment, brief counseling services, and community outreach services.
