Food Pantry

The Travis County Community Center at Del Valle has a food pantry to provide healthy food to Travis County residents in need. Travis County residents may access any one of the Travis County Community Center food pantries once every 30 days. Food for the household for approximately three days is provided, including fresh and frozen foods. (Food offered varies from week to week depending on availability.)

Food Pantry Hours:

Monday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Tuesday*: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Wednesday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Thursday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

*Pantry opens at 1:00 pm on Tuesdays for restocking

• Computer Resource Room: Our Computer Resource Room includes three workstations and telephone
• Computer work stations are set up so that you can easily apply for our services or SNAP.

There are many resources to help job seekers at the Community Center. The Computer Resource room includes two work stations and a printer that may be used to look for and apply for jobs. A telephone is also available in the Community Center. Information about job openings as well as employment and educational services is posted on the bulletin board in the Computer Resource room. Additionally, the Community Center’s Case Workers and Social Worker can provide referrals to community resources for job search and employment assistance to clients.

The Travis County Community Center at Del Valle has a clothing closet available to provide free used clothing to Travis County residents in need. We have gently used clothing donated by community members. We do not carry home goods. To obtain clothing, come to the Community Center during clothing closet hours, complete an application, and present photo identification

• We accept donations of clean and gently used clothing. If you have clothing that you would like to donate, please bring your donation by the community center. All our clothing is given out at no cost to our clients.

Social Work and Case management page

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays our partner agency Meals on Wheels and More provides a place for older adults to gather for games (bingo, dominoes, cards, bridge, puzzles), conversation and a shared nutritious lunchtime meal.

Congregate Meal sites are FREE for everyone and open to ANYONE age 60 or over! There is no charge for the meal, but a donation can be made to Meals on Wheels and More if the participants want to do so. Come share good conversation, fun games and a meal with us. We’ll be looking forward to your company, WE LOVE SEEING NEW FACES! Contact James Cunningham, Senior Lunch Program Manager at 512-854-6247 to sign up.

The community center has a meeting area that can be reserved for community-benefiting events and groups. Space at Del Valle Community Center is available based on the following criteria:

• No private parties
• No religious or political functions
• No charge for attending the event held at the Center
• The group cannot be a for-profit group and must have a community focus or benefit

Examples of groups that use our meeting area include Alcoholics Anonymous, Women’s Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Indian-American Cultural Groups. Please fill out an Activity Room Reservation Request form if you are interested in reserving the activity room. Please contact the center manager at the main number (512-854-1520) if you have any specific questions that are not addressed in the activity room request form.

Our Senior Congregate Meal Program provides a place for older adults to gather for games (bingo, dominoes, cards, bridge, puzzles, Wii), physical activity, arts and crafts, conversation, and a shared nutritious lunchtime meal. Congregate Meal sites are free for everyone and open to anyone age 60 or over.

Senior Congregate Meal Program Hours: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
