Family Support Services has Supportive Case Managers and Social Workers at our six community centers. They provide short-term and comprehensive case management and counseling services.

 

How can a case manager or social worker help?

 
A Social Worker and Case Manager can help in many ways, including:

  • CONNECTING you to community programs.
  • Looking at your unique situation, and needs.
  • LISTENING to your concerns and providing supportive counseling.
  • Helping you to plan and develop goals.
  • ASSISTING you with improving your coping and problem-solving skills.
  • Teaching and practicing budgeting and money management skills with you.
  • ADVOCATING with you with utility companies, landlords, school systems, and other service providers.
  • IMPROVING the quality of life for individuals, families and children.

Social Workers

Social workers are licensed mental health clinicians available to work with you for up to 24 months in comprehensive case management.

You may receive counseling services, help identify goals, assistance applying for benefits, and work on complex, longer-term needs.

 

 

Supportive Case Managers

Case Managers provide goal-focused, client-centered services supporting you and your family for 6 to 12 months.

Our case managers are available to help you resolve short-term crises and can connect you with resources in the community. You will receive help to identify goals, assistance applying for benefits, and work on short-term needs.

Services Provided

 
Case Management Services

  • Information and referrals for employment, housing, medical, mental health needs, and more.

Goal Planning & Assessment

  • Assist with developing long range goals
  • Help applying for SSI/SSDI, Medicaid, SNAP, Metro Access and other services

Brief Counseling Services

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Individual/Family counseling
  • Youth Services

Community Outreach Services

  • Participate in community events.
  • Provide presentations at neighborhood centers, school and community meetings.
  • Services may be provided in your home, at our office, or at a place in the community.

Support

 
A Social Worker and Case Manager can help you make goals in the following areas:

  • Resources: Employment, training, applying for disability, social security, veteran benefits, money management/budgeting
  • Basic Needs: Food, clothing, hygiene, applying for food stamps, transportation
  • Housing: Homeless, temporary or transitional housing, threat of eviction, unaffordable housing
  • Education: Obtaining GED, English as a Second Language classes (ESL), literacy, enrolling self or children in school
  • Health: Medical needs, prescriptions, mobility, no insurance, applying for MAP, Medicaid, Medicare, or CHIP
  • Mental Health: Counseling, support groups, grief counseling, mental health medication, trauma symptoms, depression, anxiety
  • Legal: Outstanding tickets, warrants, probation, parole, legal services, divorce, child support, other legal needs
  • Safety: Domestic violence, child protective services, substance abuse, order of protection, feeling unsafe, safety planning
  • Support: Community involvement, lack of friend and family support, services for children, services for seniors

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
