United in Giving Newsletter: September 30, 2015

The 2015 United in Giving Campaign is revving up!

The change jars are out, the events are being confirmed on the calendar and the fun is starting to roll!

Did you see Auditor’s staff wearing their (work appropriate, of course) shorts last Friday?! They turned more than a few heads! Thanks to a fun idea and awesome management support from County Auditor Nicki Riley, her staff pay $10 a coupon to wear shorts on Fridays during the weeks of the United in Giving campaign ... and she has raised over $1000!

What can your department do to have fun and raise a few bucks?

The District Attorney's Office has already scheduled the return of their very successful silent auction in November, TNR has the scheduled a blood drive in November and is having their Baked Potato sale in October and spare coins are being collected all over the county in Change for Change Jars.

MAJOR events have been scheduled. Watch for the announcements for our Fall Extravaganza Bake Sale in November, get your recipes (salsa, queso and guacamole) fine-tuned for (what we hope is) the first Annual UinG Tex-Mex Off in late October and watch for details of our first big event celebration, “Halloweiner!”

Don’t forget the donation of Your Time is as valuable as Your Money!

Sign-up for volunteer activities throughout Travis County through Hands on Central Texas with your work info or personal info: making sure you register Travis County as your employer is the key! Plan a Saturday morning volunteer event with your work group ... maybe the boss will buy your breakfast as a “Thank You!” (are you reading this Managers everywhere?!) And don’t think you have to sign-up for a pre-scheduled event; if you have an event you volunteer for that is not on the HOCT website, email Molly Hahn and she will work with you to get it up there!

Click on this email and check out your campaign website: find out who your department Campaign Leader is, get involved in your department’s philanthropic activities, share YOUR great idea with them and have some fun in your department, volunteer in your community with your co-workers/family/friends, organize a food sale to raise funds, set-up a Change for Change donation jar in your work area ... you have many ways this year to have fun, be involved and be a philanthropist!

And send us pictures!

United in Giving is an internal employee fundraising campaign run by Travis County employees.
