Bail Bond Board
Pursuant to Section 1704.0535 of the Texas Occupations Code, any attorney who practices criminal law in Travis County may apply for a place on the ballot as the defense attorney representative who is a member of the Travis County Bail Bond Board.
An application to be placed on the ballot is available on the Travis County Bail Bond Board website. The application must be completed and submitted to Vickie Riojas, secretary for the Travis County Bail Bond Board, by delivering it to her at the Executive Office Building, 411 W. 13th St., Room 601, or by emailing it to her at [email protected] no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024.
The election for the criminal defense attorney representative to the Bail Bond Board will be conducted in the lobby of the Blackwell Thurman Criminal Justice Center, 509 W. 11th Street, Austin, Texas, between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, during the holiday luncheon for ACDLA and CAPDS. Results will be tabulated and announced at the January 8, 2025 meeting of the Travis County Bail Bond Board.
Any attorney who has a principal place of business in Travis County, and who is not legally prohibited from representing criminal defendants in Travis County, is entitled to cast one vote to elect the board member who is the criminal defense attorney representative.

Meeting Schedule and Location
The Travis County Bail Bond Board meets on the first Wednesday of every month, unless otherwise noted on the Agenda. The meeting location is on the 1st floor of 700 Lavaca Street, Austin, Texas 78701.
Bail Bond Board Responsibilities
Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 1704, Texas Occupation Code, the Travis County Bail Bond Board is responsible for:
- Supervising and regulating each phase of the bonding business in Travis County;
- Depositing fees collected through the bonding business in the general fund of Travis County;
- Adopting and posting rules necessary to implement the Bail Bond Board’s powers and duties;
- Conducting hearings and investigations and making determinations relating to the issuance, denial or renewal of licenses;
- Issuing licenses to qualified applicants and denying licenses to unqualified applicants;
- Employing persons necessary to assist in board functions; and
- Conducting board business, including maintaining records and minutes.
