Travis County Transportation & Natural Resources will be reopening its in-person permitting counter at 700 Lavaca St, 5th Floor, Suite 540 starting August 16, 2022, on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Development Services

Travis County Development Services oversees guidelines, procedures and permits for all development outside corporate city limits in Travis County. Development is defined as any man-made changes to improved or unimproved real estate, including but not limited to structures or other buildings, driveways or other work in the county right-of-way, septic systems, mining, dredging, filling, grading, paving, excavation or drilling operations and the division of land.

Development Services is also responsible for floodplain management, inspection of construction activities, and regulates subdivisions in the unincorporated areas of Travis County in partnership with other jurisdictions and agencies.

We encourage applicants to apply online via MyPermitNow.org.  Beginning July 1, 2015, Travis County is introducing credit card processing for permits through MyPermitNow.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 8.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $22.42.
