Media Operations Manager
Al Jackson has been with Travis County Media Services since 1987 and was promoted to Media Operations Manager in 1996. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina. Al received his post-graduate doctoral work at the University of Texas at Austin, which is why he relocated to Travis County.
Al’s work experience includes master control/engineering operations at the University of South Carolina television, and Master control/production support at KLRU television, formerly located at the Communications Complex on the University of Texas campus.
Al was at Travis County when it was awarded its own cable channel in 1988, originally TCTV channel 38, eventually being changed to channel 17. He was a key participant in the development and construction of the original TCTV studio, control room, cablecast system, and outfitting of the current Commissioner's Courtroom. His long-term tenure with Travis County, and his decades long television operations experience, has been critical to Travis County Media Services (TCTV-17) and its growth to what it is today.
