In 1990 STAR Flight added a Bell 412 SP to its fleet. This much larger, more powerful aircraft greatly enhanced the public safety mission of STAR Flight with the added capability of multiple-patient transport capability (up to four patients could be transported at once), rescue and short-haul capabilities, and firefighting with a suspended Bambi-bucket. This was the primary, frontline aircraft for eight years, with the 206 utilized as a backup aircraft.
