The immediate goal of Emergency Services' Technology & Communications program, a division of Travis County Emergency Services, is to ensure the availability of accurate and efficient communications and information systems for operational and analysis purposes in the areas of public safety and public service. This includes effectively coordinating technology and information sharing with other public entities and private organizations.

Current efforts include:
  • working with CAPCOG, State and other public entities in coordinating 911 and wireless communications planning activities,
  • participating in a unified, cooperative effort in transforming the current inefficient, independent emergency communications systems and facilities into a state-of-the-art communications and data network and
  • ensuring effective management of Travis County contracts for communications parts, services, and maintenance.
