Before beginning reconstruction and restoration of your home, a development permit must be obtained. Applications can be made online at MyPermitNow.org.
Health & Human Services/Veterans Service Department
The Health & Human Services/Veterans Service Department provides a range of services and activities associated with the basic needs of Travis County residents. Emergency Assistance, including rent/mortgage assistance, utility payment assistance, groceries, clothes and blankets, and home repairs, as well as case management services from clinical social workers, can be accessed at seven Community Centers–two located in Central Austin and five that serve the rural areas of the County (map). Eligibility for assistance may depend on a number of factors, including income. For more information, please visit the Family Support Services website.
