Judge Hernández has served as the presiding judge of the County Court at Law #6 since January, 2023.

Judge Hernández also oversees Transformative Youth Justice (TYJ), a court-led diversion program for individuals between the ages of 17-20. TYJ utilizes a holistic community-centered approach to provide participants with developmentally-appropriate support, intervention, and mentorship

Transformative Youth Justice

Transformative Youth Justice (TYJ) is a youth diversion program led by Judge Hernández in partnership with the Travis County Attorney’s Office, the Travis County Clerk’s Office, Court Administration, and other community partners. TYJ works with over 15+ community organizations to provide trauma-informed programming, mental health support, peer support training, educational services, and career development support for all participants.

The vision of TYJ is to reduce recidivism and increase public safety by building a holistic continuum of care that extends beyond the courtroom. Learn More

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
