IMPORTANT NOTICE OF FEE INCREASE

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022

Effective January 1, 2022 the fees for filing a civil case in the Justice Court have been consolidated and have increased. Additionally, motions for new trial and appeals will require a filing fee to be paid at the time of filing.

The Court will accept 2021 filing fees if the filing is filed or postmarked prior to January 1, 2022 in accordance with TRCP 500.5(b).

The increase in filing fees is pursuant to SB 41 passed by the 87th Legislature signed into law with an effective date of January 1, 2022.

The 2022 Justice Court Civil Fee Schedule will be published soon.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $10.39.
