Ms. Ortega-Carter called the meeting to order.
A. Consider minutes of the December 6, 2023, meeting and take appropriate action.
Mr. Blackburn moved, Mr. Engle seconded, and the Board voted to approve the minutes.
B. Consider the renewal application for Daniel Williams, dba 24-7 Bail Bonds, license #012018, and take appropriate action.
Mr. Engle moved, Ms. Price seconded, and the Board voted to approve the three-year renewal for Daniel Williams, dba 24-7 Bail Bonds, license #012018.
C. Tabulate results from the December 19, 2023, election of the criminal defense attorney member of the Bail Bond Board and take appropriate action.
Ms. McDowell opened the sealed envelope and counted the votes. After the votes were tabulated, Ms. McDowell announced that Mr. Blackburn had been elected as the criminal defense attorney representative with a vote of 15-0.
D. Receive reports from subcommittee conduction site visits to bail bond licensees’ offices and take appropriate action.
Ms. Cox reported on behalf of the subcommittee that they visited the offices of Lone Star Bail Services, Kwik Out Bail Bonds, 24-7 Bail Bonds, Bail Bonds Express, ATX Bail Bonds 2, Bulldog Bail Bonds, Austin Texas Bail Bonds, Around the Clock Bail Bonds, Freedom Bail Bonds and Matt Clark’s Freedom Bail Bonds. All reflected that licensees/agents were in compliance with applicable statutes and rules.
E. Public Comment
Ms. Cox mentioned she had received a late request from Judge Mueller to move the start time of the Bail Bond Board monthly meetings but would add this item for discussion to the February agenda.
Mr. Engle moved, Mr. Blackburn seconded, and the Board voted to adjourn.
