ANNOUNCEMENT:
Alzheimer's and Dementia Training for Guardians due by September 1, 2026
Government Code Sec. 155.204(a)(2) requires all guardians of wards who are over 60 years old and/or diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or a related disorder to complete a one-hour training course each year. All current guardians to whom the new provision applies must complete their initial training by September 1st, and then annually when the Annual Report of the Person and/or Annual Account is due. (For guardians whose Annual Reports are due between September 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027, you will not need to re-do your training until your Annual Report is due. The initial training will be sufficient.)
The Judicial Branch Certification Commission (JBCC) has developed a 1-hour training module. The Alzheimer’s Training Module can be found at: www.txcourts.gov/jbcc/register-a-guardianship/guardianship-registration-training/
Users who experience technical difficulties with the training can contact the JBCC at 512-463-1656.
Once you complete the training, you will receive a Certificate of Completion by email. Please submit this to the Court by emailing a copy of the certificate to Jessica Serrano at [email protected]. Attorneys will need to e-file this certificate with the Clerk's office.

Peace Officers Who Have Arrested or Detained a Ward of this Court
Any peace officer who arrests or detains a person currently under guardianship in this Court has a statutory duty to notify the Probate Court of the person’s arrest or detention. Peace officers can provide notice to this Court by submitting a summary email to [email protected] or [email protected]
