About the Veteran Services Department
The Travis County Veterans Services Department was officially created on March 22, 1944, by the Travis County Commissioner’s Court "for the purpose of preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims under laws administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs."
We are here to serve and support our community’s Veterans and their eligible dependents. To ensure personalized attention and timely assistance, we are currently accepting clients by appointment only.
Granted under Title 38, Section 5902 of the U.S. Code and Title 38, Section 14.628(c) of Code of Federal Regulations, the Veterans Services Department is allowed to help individuals make a claim before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Travis County Veteran Services staff, all honorably discharged military Veterans, are accredited by the VA Veterans Benefits Administration. Our compassionate team assists veterans and beneficiaries with various needs, including VA benefits, disability claims, appeals, and referrals for medical, mental health, housing, education, financial assistance, and more.
Services are always free, and we have specialized coordinators for women veterans and LGBTQ+ issues. Additionally, we provide Notary services and engage in outreach and community events.

Our office is open Monday - Thursday, 9 am through 4 pm.
