Vision

The Travis County Compliance and Privacy (CAP) program will be recognized as one of the best compliance programs within the State, that strives to conduct business with the highest level of awareness, training, commitment, and adherence to applicable laws and regulations. To do so, this requires the implementation of policies and procedures that address potential compliance risk areas as well as identifiable mechanisms for reporting, investigating, monitoring, and correcting cases of suspected non-compliance.

Mission

Building a Compliance and Privacy (CAP) program where staff and clients are addressed with dignity, respect, and equipped with the training, knowledge and understanding to protect and secure all privacy data held by Travis County.

Our Commitment to Travis County

The primary function of the CAP office is to monitor all HIPAA and Privacy operational processes and procedures using a compliance management platform to ensure that Travis County complies with all legal regulations and ethical standards.

We achieve these responsibilities by:

  • Developing an effective compliance program by implementing standards of conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure proper oversight, by having a Compliance Officer and Governance Committee that hold operational responsibility, autonomy, and authority.
  • Creating effective ongoing awareness and training platforms, while establishing open lines of effective communication.
  • Internal auditing and monitoring by using internal tools to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Reporting and Investigation procedures that encourage employees to raise concerns while having effective investigative procedures in place.
  • Overseeing standardized disciplinary and enforcement actions for intentional and malicious data privacy violations.
  • Prompt response and prevention to resolve identified problems and implementation of corrective actions plans that will monitor ongoing and future activities.
