What's the Transportation Blueprint?

The Transportation Blueprint is Travis County’s first comprehensive, countywide transportation planning document. It complements the planning work of other jurisdictions and agencies that contribute to our transportation system, while focusing on county-specific concerns. The Blueprint is a fiscally constrained plan that defines priorities through 2045. It will be updated every five years and may be amended by the Commissioners Court as needed.

We've blended community input with technical data to produce a Blueprint—our plan for meeting the community's transportation needs in unincorporated areas of Travis County for the next 30 years.

Vision

In coordination with our transportation partners, provide Travis County with a transportation system that is: safe, reliable, resilient, efficient, and equitable.

Goals

With our vision in mind, several goals for the Blueprint were identified:

  • Prioritize safety and resiliency
  • Maintain and improve existing transportation system
  • Increase system capacity through effective management and new or expanded facilities
  • Reduce barriers to mobility
  • Balance growth and environmental concerns
  • Develop a multimodal system that accommodates new technology

Amending Transportation Blueprint

The Travis County Transportation Blueprint is the County’s long‑range, multimodal transportation plan covering 30 years. It was adopted on July 16, 2019 and this is the first amendment to the plan since adoption.

This amendment seeks to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Update the roadway network and maps
  • Create a process for amending the Blueprint
  • Provide an application form for amendments

Safe Streets for All – Safety Action Plan

The Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan builds on the County’s broader transportation vision by identifying strategies to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries across Travis County. This plan focuses on unincorporated areas and partner jurisdictions, with recommendations for safer roads, infrastructure improvements, and public engagement.
