The Travis County Medical Examiner' Office conducts legal investigations from a medical point of view into all sudden, traumatic, and otherwise suspicious deaths that occur in Travis County. Investigations may include an autopsy, if necessary, to support an official ruling on the cause and manner of death. In addition, the medical examiner's office provides forensic autopsy and laboratory services to other counties for a fee.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
