Austin,TX (November 4 2015) -- During the 2015 NYS Texas CIO Academy, Travis County Chief Information Officer, was awarded the 2015 Texas CIO of the Year Award by Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt.
The CIO of the Year award recognizes individuals for exemplary leadership, strategic vision, innovation and collaboration.
As the 2015 CIO of the Year, Ms. Acevedo will be featured in Public CIO Magazine. Tanya Acevedo serves as the Chief Information Officer of Travis County, Texas. Travis County is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation consisting of more than forty elected officials who direct departments that perform various functions such as voting administration, parks and recreation, justice and public safety. Ms. Acevedo has more than 25 years of public and private sector experience. She has changed the technology and processes at Travis County, and has had a positive impact on the people and the culture. She constantly looks to improve how to use technology to better provide services to the citizens of Travis County. She is masterful in understanding how local government works and how people, process, and technology all work together to provide services to citizens. She has her BA from Michigan State University and MBA from Central Michigan University.
In addition 9 Texas state and local IT Managers, including Travis County's own Aaron Madely were recognized for their exceptional leadership, customer service and public stewardship.
