Public Notice: Travis County Election Precinct Boundaries Proposed Plan For 2025

On December 4, 2025, the Travis County Commissioners Court, the governing body of Travis County, Texas, may consider changing precinct boundaries during a voting session on Thursday, December 4th. The meeting will be held at the Travis County Administration Building in the Commissioners Courtroom located at 700 Lavaca, Austin, TX, 78701 and begin at 1:30 pm.

Under the Election Code, election precinct boundaries are required to change for a number of reasons, including when Congressional redistricting occurs. The Texas legislature passed a new Congressional map in August of 2025. That map is the subject of litigation and, as of November 25, the 2025 Congressional map is the map currently in place. If that map remains in place, precinct line changes will be required. If adopted by the Travis County Commissioners Court, the new election precinct boundaries will go into effect on January 1, 2026.

If the 2025 Congressional map remains in place, the number of Travis County election precincts may increase to 307 from 287, in order to comply with changes in congressional district boundaries.
