Proposed Benefit Changes Effective 10/1/2025
The Benefits Committee, Planning and Budget Office, Human Resources Management Department, and our Benefits Consultant, NFP, have worked diligently to maintain the current premium costs while providing a comprehensive benefits plan for County employees, retirees, and their covered dependents. The Benefits Committee met to review plan options and cost projections. For FY26, the Committee agreed to continue the health plans with a 2% increase to medical premiums with no changes to the plan design.
Proposed Compensation
The Planning & Budget Office has placed $27.2 million in the Budget Guidelines for Compensation and Benefits for Fiscal Year 2026.
Key items to address are funding for the implementation of the HRMD Compensation Project for Classified Employees, Across-the-Board increase for classified employees, POPS Scale adjustments and a step increase for employees on the Peace Officer Pay Scale.
The Compensation Committee has prioritized the following for classified employees in Fiscal Year 2026:
- Across the board increase for classified employees.
- Implementation of the market study.
- Incentives for employees ineligible to telework.
All compensation changes must be approved by the Commissioners Court during the budget process.
