Project Background
The goal of the Bee Creek Sports Complex is to meet the need for youth sports facilities in the rapidly growing communities of Precinct Three (3) in southwest Travis County. The project was recommended by a citizen advisory committee for inclusion in Travis County’s 2017 park bond package, which voters subsequently approved in a November 2017 referendum. Through an Interlocal Agreement with the City of Lakeway, the County is leasing 70 acres of city-owned land at 4440 Bee Creek Road for the sports complex that it will develop, operate, maintain, and manage. Project design kicked off when Travis County contracted Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. in June 2018.
Concept Plan
The Bee Creek Sports Complex will have soccer, baseball, softball, and football fields, parking, restrooms, team meeting facility, trailhead and primitive trail, playground area, maintenance building, and other amenities and associated infrastructure. A few facts about the project:
- The soccer, baseball, softball, and football fields will be synthetic turf and sized to serve youth teams for 5 years and under to 14 years and under.
- The team meeting facility will have an area for food trucks.
- Lighting design will be designed to “dark-sky” standards.
- In an effort to maintain the rivers and streams around our project limits, we are conducting a stream survey and assessment for the Bee Creek watershed to document its current condition as well as look for areas that are experiencing erosion or other issues that could impact the floodplain along these streams.

Attend our Public Meeting
Stantec and Travis County will hold a public meeting to unveil the concept plan and receive comments from the public. The meeting will include a brief presentation by Stantec followed by a town hall-style question and answer session. All are invited and encouraged to attend.

Participants may submit written comments at the meeting and/or via email to [email protected] until November 2, 2018.
After reviewing written comments collected at the public meeting or submitted online, a revised concept plan that addresses public interests -- as well as other issues including cost, constructability, safety, topography, traffic, and environmental requirements -- will be prepared and presented to the Commissioner’s Court so they can approve or not move forward with the project.
