Filing Process

Determine if a Violation Exists

Common development violations can include, but are not limited to:

 Category Examples of Violations
 Regulation Enforcement Complaints
  • Illegal driveaway
  • Unpermitted construction site
  • Uncontrolled construction site, debris, trash, sanitation
  • Portable toilet location or condition
 Grading Complaints
  • Failure to comply with approved plan
  • Grading without permit
  • Mud on roadway
 Septic
  • Discharge of untreated septic sewage or septic system failure
  • Failure to maintain system system

Verify the Violation Location

This webpage provides information on violations that occurred outside corporate city limits in Travis County. If that’s not the case, please contact the appropriate jurisdiction instead.

Gather Required Information

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • The exact address where the alleged violation is occurring and the nature of the violation (e.g. failure to obtain a permit, dirt and debris tracked onto roadway, septic system failure or discharge, etc.)

Create an Account

Once you complete all previous steps, please proceed to create an online account on our permitting and complaint platform.

File a Complaint

Log into your account and visit the Solution Center.

Please select the appropriate new application type that best describes the type of complaint you want to report. Follow the instructions in the platform.

Site Inspection

An inspector will visit the site and determine if a violation exists.

Corrective Action

If a violation exists, the developer is going to receive a Notice of Violation. Once the notice is issued, the they must take corrective action within the deadline specified in the notice. Failure to do so can result in fines, penalties, and legal action.
