The Employee Public Hearing for Benefits and Compensation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 at 4:30 pm in the Commissioners Court Room. The meeting this year will be available in person and virtual. Employees will be able to be in Commissioners Court or call on the public line between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to share their comments with the Court. The number of visitors may be limited but a sign-in sheet and waiting area will be established prior to the hearing date. Calls will be cued in the order received and facilitated by a call facilitator.

This time is set aside each year for our Travis County employees to share any concerns or issues regarding proposed changes to our benefits plans and anticipated compensation decisions for our upcoming fiscal year.
If you are unable to attend the meeting or want to remain anonymous, please submit a comment by completing the survey by June 19th! All comments will be provided to Commissioners Court prior to the meeting. If you have questions, please contact Benefits or attend the June 23rd Public Hearing at 4:30pm in the Commissioners Courtroom and online in the meeting portal. Staff who call in by 6:30 pm will be in the que and given the opportunity to speak.
Proposed Benefit Changes Effective 10/1/2026
The Benefits Committee, Planning and Budget Office, Human Resources Management Department and our Benefits Consultant, NFP, have worked diligently to maintain the current premium costs while providing a comprehensive benefits plan for County employees, retirees, and their covered dependents. The Benefits Committee met to review plan options and cost projections. For FY27, the Committee agreed to continue the health plans with a 8% increase to medical premiums and some plan changes. Proposed Compensation
The Planning & Budget Office will be recommending resources in the FY 2027 Preliminary Budget for compensation and benefits for next year. The FY 2027 Compensation Reserve assumes resources for Classified and POPS employees, and the County portion of rates changes for the health plan. In addition, there have already been several compensation and benefit discussions with the Commissioners Court this year including separate discussions on compensation and the health plan on June 9, 2026, Agenda Items 25 and 26.
The Compensation Committee has prioritized the following for classified employees in Fiscal Year 2027:
Increases to fix Compression Issues;
Across-the-board Increase;
MSS – Market Salary Study (for all Classified);
Longevity Pay Changes; and
Creation of a Structured Pay Scale similar to POPS Pay Scale.
All compensation changes will be approved by Commissioners Court during the FY27 Budget Process.
