Subject: HOT consideration by City of Austin
Date: Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 10:37:19 AM Central Daylight Time
From: Sarah Eckhardt
To: Commissioners-Court

Commissioners, as I mentioned yesterday in open court, the City Manager’s Office informed me Monday that the City Council will be deliberating whether or not to continue utilizing the full local increment of Hotel Occupancy Tax for the downtown Convention Center. I received an email from the Mayor yesterday that the item may go on the Consent Motion. I plan to be in Council Chamber with relevant County staff to answer questions in case the Council chooses to deliberate the item. All of us on the Commissioners Courts have reached out to Council members on the Expo Center, HOT, Palm and various other possibilities that would serve our mutual interests without much success to date. Meeting the City Council in its voting session is our next best opportunity. If you are available to attend, your voice would be important to a fuller understanding of the opportunities that may be foreclosed by this vote.
