AUSTIN, TX (January 21, 2016)

Effective 2/1/16, the following changes will be implemented to enhance security at the HMS Travis County Courthouse:

100% security screening will be required for all persons entering the building. This includes persons displaying Travis County-issued ID cards.
The East Door (facing Guadalupe St.) will be accessible to all persons entering the building (public, attorneys, and County Staff). The West Door (facing the CJC) will be the Priority Access Line (PAL) and is restricted to persons who display valid Travis County-issued ID cards only (e.g. County Staff, attorneys, etc.).

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 12.7 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $34.51.
