Juanita Garcia

Prior to joining the Travis County Public Defender’s Office, Juanita García was a Mithoff Pro Bono Program Intern for the William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law at the University of Texas School of Law, where she advocated for clients through the Texas Law Expunction Project.

Previously, Juanita gained extensive experience in the political and advocacy sphere as a community organizer for James Talarico for State Representative, Wendy Davis for Congress, MOVE Texas, KERA, and the Office of U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett. She received her Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.

Antes de unirse a la Oficina de Los Defensores Públicos del Condado de Travis, Juanita García fue pasante del programa Mithoff Pro Bono para el Centro de Justicia William Wayne para la Ley de Interés Público en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Texas, donde defendió a los clientes a través del Proyecto de Expulsión de la Ley de Texas.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
