Lime Creek Road is classified as a rural minor arterial with a posted speed limit of 40 mph. The roadway is undivided and does not include curb, gutter, or shoulder. The study area spans approximately three miles within Travis County and includes rolling terrain with vertical and horizontal curves.

Traffic Volume Observations

Average daily traffic was higher on weekends (1,014 vehicles) than on weekdays (995 vehicles). Motorcycle traffic increased substantially on weekends, averaging 180 motorcycles per day compared to 32 on weekdays. The highest volumes were observed at 11916 Lime Creek Road, with Sunday recording the highest counts for both vehicle types.

The following findings summarize key observations from traffic counts and field review conducted along Lime Creek Road.

Summary

  • Traffic volumes were highest on weekends, with Sunday recording the highest overall traffic.
  • On Sunday, 184 out of 1,152 vehicles (approximately 16%) were traveling above 50 mph.
  • Some vehicles were observed traveling at speeds exceeding 60 mph and up to 75 mph.
  • While noise levels were not formally measured, field observations indicated elevated noise levels.
