Travis County Judge Andy Brown Issues Disaster Declaration in Response to Flooding
What's Happening
Travis County Judge Andy Brown has issued a local disaster declaration due to widespread flooding, excessive rainfall, and severe storm impacts. This declaration enables enhanced coordination of the following:
- Debris removal and roadway clearance
- Search and rescue operations
- Displaced resident services
- Expanded public information operations
- Coordination with state and federal emergency resources
Under the direction of Judge Brown, several Travis County departments and first responder agencies are actively responding to assist multiple communities, including Big Sandy Creek, Cow Creek, and other areas.
Stay Safe
Avoid closed or damaged roads and bridges, stay tuned to official alerts, and do not attempt to return to the affected areas until declared safe.
What To Do
- Avoid closed/damaged roads and bridges.
- Document and report damage and lost/damaged items to the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
- Take household garbage to the FM1431 Citizens Collection Center.
- Check for low water crossing closures at atxfloods.com.
- Sign up for emergency alerts at WarnCentralTexas.org.
- Enable emergency notifications on your phone.
