Storm Water Videos Broadcast on Travis County's Cable Channel 17- February 2022 Schedule
The following information is presented for public education as part of Travis County's Storm Water Management Program (SWMP) required by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
The following videos presented by the City of Austin and the North Central Texas Council of Governments will be broadcast during each time block listed below:
- Climate Change in Austin (COA) - Explains the actions the City of Austin is taking to address climate impacts, and what you can do to help.
- Watershed Protection: Preserving Healthy Floodplains (COA) - Benefits of maintaining a naturally functioning floodplain (English).
- Watershed Protection: Headwater Stream Protection (COA) - Explains what a headwater stream is and why it is sensitive (English).
- Earth School Kids: Protecting Water Quality (COA) - Kids explore how their actions on the land affect water quality and what they can do to help keep the water clean.
- Watershed Protection: Redevelopment Exceptions (COA) - Explains the history of ordinances in Austin and current ordinances regarding development (English).
- Watershed Protection: Erosion Hazard Zone (COA) - Explains the hazards of erosion such as damage to homes, and how to relieve erosion issues (English).
- Watershed Protection: Redevelopment Exceptions (COA) - Explains the history of ordinances in Austin and current ordinances regarding development (Spanish).
- Watershed Protection: Headwater Stream Protection (COA) - Explains what a headwater stream is and why it is sensitive (Spanish).

- Freddy the Fish Teaches About Stormwater (NCTCOG) - Explains how water gets to creeks & lakes and why we should not pollute or litter.
These thirteen videos will be broadcast together during each of the following time blocks:

The following videos presented by Iowa Public Television will be broadcast during each time block listed below:
- Water Quality- Examines the threat pollutants have on water quality, and challenges the viewers to make a difference.
- Working Landscapes- Examines working landscapes as a way of sustaining our fragile ecosystems.
These two videos will be broadcast together during each of the following time blocks:

- River Smart Homes (EPA) - Getting smart about runoff in Washington, D.C.- riverfront homeowners implement environmentally friendly landscaping practices to save historic rivers.
- Building a Rain Barrel (TCEQ) - How to build a homemade rain barrel for rain harvesting.
- Composting in Your Back Yard (TCEQ) - How to compost at home and how this practice can reduce the amount of waste that goes to our landfills.
- Program Success of the Take Care of Texas Campaign (TCEQ) - Discusses the objectives and successes of the ‘Take Care of Texas’ campaign./li>
- Simple Ways to Take Care of Texas (TCEQ) - Discusses the population growth in Texas and how this will impact air quality, the demand for water, landfill space, and electricity. It also discusses simple steps we can take to help address these issues now.

The video titled, 'Texas, The State of Flowing Water', presented by TEXAS Parks & Wildlife, explores the importance of water for people and for wildlife, examines the threat facing Texas' water and how to protect it, and outlines simple steps people can take to avoid water shortages. It will be broadcast on the following dates/ times:
