The 14th annual East Austin Garden Fair is the place to be for expert gardening advice from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Travis County Master Gardeners and the City of Austin.

Free plants, seeds, and gardening magazines will be given out while supplies last to help jumpstart your spring gardening projects. Participants are invited to bring gardening hand tools that need sharpening and learn how to sharpen it on site. Examples of hand or garden tools to bring are shovels, rakes, pruning shears (both loppers and hand shears), and hoes.

Admission is free, open to the public, and features activities for all ages. The theme for this year’s fair is “Gardening for Life."

With over 60 booths exhibiting on a variety of topics, the fair features DIY projects and demonstrations, all aimed at helping you garden with whatever space you have access to. There will be a plant giveaway, lots of free gardening materials, and complimentary soil testing by Austin Resource Recovery’s Soil Kitchen. Community partner organizations will provide information on related services, programs and projects in addition to horticulture information from Travis County Master Gardeners. Daphne Richards, AgriLife Extension Agent for horticulture-Travis County, will be available to answer questions about gardening in Austin and talk about the Master Gardener volunteer program.
