District Clerk Velva Price and County Court Judge Brandy Mueller have teamed up with advertising agency GSD&M to sponsor Travis County’s first ever short film competition on the topic of jury service. Austin Area High school students have been invited to create a 2 to 4 minute video on why jury service is important. Know a high school student with creativity? See the link below for details and help us spread the word.

Winners will be deputized as bailiffs and work in one of our Travis County courts during a jury trial and have their video appear in official communications with thousands of potential jurors summoned every year.

As we know, the right to a trial by jury is one of the fundamental constitutional rights that defines our American judicial system. It is the jurors who put in the hard work and honorable service that make our system what it is.This Film Challengeaims to give its teenage participants the opportunity to help understand and honor our community’s jurors.”
