Austin, Texas – This week, Travis County will provide an overview of the courts system, how it works, and how the County plans to meet its growing needs. At the Tuesday, February 7th Commissioners Court voting session, at 10:00 AM, staff will present a primer on what the courts do, what they need to effectively carry out justice and the multi-faceted approach planned to meet our growing needs.

On Wednesday, February 8th, the County will host an open house at its recently acquired historic courthouse building at 200 West 8th Street from 10 AM – 12 PM. Congressional, countywide and local elected officials have been invited. Staff will be on hand to talk to attendees about the newly acquired courthouse and future plans to meet court needs.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
