Kristin McLain STAR Flight uniform2

April 27 marks the year anniversary of the death of STAR Flight Nurse Kristin McLain. Kristin died after falling from a STAR Flight helicopter’s hoist while conducting a rescue operation.

In remembrance of Kristin and to celebrate her life, STAR Flight personnel are wearing their old-style, blue flight suits this week. A couple of years ago, STAR Flight transitioned from their blue flight suits in favor of a more functional, breathable khaki uniform. Kristin preferred the blue flight suits. Going forward, during the week of April 27, STAR Flight will annually make the change back to the blue flight suits in remembrance of Kristin.

“Wearing the blue flight suits is a way for us to remember Kristin, her life, and the contributions that she made to the STAR Flight program,” said STAR Flight Director Casey Ping. “We are asking everyone who wants to remember her and support emergency response personnel to also wear blue on April 27.”

Please join us by wearing a blue shirt or ribbon to remember STAR Flight Nurse Kristin McLain on April 27. She was a dedicated professional and a wonderful, giving person, who will never be forgotten.
