SEATBELTS NOT USED IN NEARLY HALF OF AUTOMOBILE FATALITIES
Seatbelts combine with airbags to help provide protection against serious injuries in case of a crash. Airbags by themselves offer a great deal of protection from physical injury, as do seatbelts. However, they must be used together to provide optimal protection. We see a good number of fatal car crashes in which the person was not wearing their seatbelt. These fatalities occur with people not only in the front seats, but in the rear seats, also. Also, it is the state law for all drivers and passengers to wear seatbelts. Many of these deaths are preventable.
