The Court Administration Division is responsible for scheduling court hearings and managing court dockets, recording the outcome of legal proceedings, and maintaining court files and records, to include responding to requests for records.

Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) Commitment Activity

Effective September 2007, counties with a population of 600,00 or more are required to post on their internet site a report which include the number of youth committed to the state juvenile correctional facility which is TJJD. This information must be updated no later than 10 days after the conclusion of each calendar year quarter. The reports below have been posted to meet this legislative requirement.

Restricted Access

When a juvenile turns 17 years of age, his or her record may be restricted so that only a criminal justice agency with a criminal justice purpose may have access to them. With certain exceptions set out in the Family Code, once a record is restricted TCJPD must respond to requests for records from other entities by saying, “No records exist.” A subsequent adult conviction will result in a record no longer being restricted.

Sealing Your Record

If certain criteria are met, a juvenile may be able to have his or record sealed. There must be a court order to seal a record, which can occur when a motion is filed by the juvenile or the juvenile’s attorney or on the motion of the court itself. When a record is sealed, it is deleted from the DPS Juvenile Justice Information System, is deleted from the Travis County Juvenile Probation Department files, and treated as though the detention and adjudication never happened.
