If you scored higher in C’s, you tend to be spontaneous. “C’s” are drawn to activities, individuals, technology and environments that are engaging and fun, and those that provide an opportunity for spontaneity and self-expression. Profile C participants generally do not like structure, as they prefer not to have a schedule guide their exercise choices. Easily bored, Profile C individuals love to choose from an array of options and activities they can sample, such as recreational sports, fun fitness games or equipment. For a “C,” the greater the variety, the better. Profile C individuals also enjoy challenging themselves with new activities that connect them to their sense of playfulness. Strengths

  • Enjoy a variety of activities (especially recreational games and sports)
  • Typically their motivation is not impacted by a lack of results (e.g. losing weight)
  • Exercise for the pure enjoyment, experience and fun of it
  • Are generally good at a number of different types of activities or sports
  • Are motivated by fun and/or different forms of movement
  • Do best with spontaneity and various types of exercise

Challenges

  • Do not like schedules or routines
  • Lack of scheduling can lead to inconsistency
  • Motivation to exercise can be negatively impacted by outside factors (e.g. bad weather or not being in the mood to exercise)

Tips And Recommendations

Profile C (Spontaneous) individuals are most successful with:

  • Joining sports clubs or teams and competing on a seasonal basis, (e.g. Winter: Racquetball; Spring: Softball; Summer: Tennis; and Fall: Basketball)
  • Experimenting with various fitness technologies, (e.g. fitness apps and digital or online workouts)
  • Creating a fitness “toy box” at work or home, which is used to play with different types of exercise equipment, such as jump ropes, balance and medicine balls, stretch ropes, kettle bells and resistance bands
  • Soliciting a buddy or two to join in various weekly, monthly or quarterly activities
  • Rotating or “cross training” selections from the “Simple Moves” program*, so workouts are varied and intermixed
