Criminal District Courts

This year, Travis County will implement E-Courtrooms in each of the nine civil District Courts. Each of these courtrooms has received its own dedicated evidence presentation system, consisting of the following:

  • 3M digital wall display;
  • 15 inch flat panel LCD monitor at each counsel table;
  • counsel lectern;
  • document camera/digital presenter;
  • combination DVD/VCR;
  • dedicated lectern workstation;
  • high quality color laser printer.

The document camera, workstation, and combination DVD/VCR will reside within the lectern. The 3M digital wall display, in addition to serving as a large 60 inch display screen for the court, is interactive and will allow attorneys and witnesses to annotate directly onto the screen when used in conjunction with a presentation from the dedicated workstation. The 3M wall display also serves as a dry-erase board, so attorneys may continue to use the board in this traditional capacity as well.

From the lectern, attorneys will be able to present various types of evidence, from PowerPoint presentations or Word documents to videos (DVD/VHS) to physical items (papers, transparencies, x-rays, as well as actual three-dimensional evidence). In turn, anything presented from the lectern is visible on the 3M wall display, the counsel table monitors, and on the monitor at the judge's bench.
