Parker began her professional career in the financial industry in 2008, working in retail banking and commercial banking but spending most of that time as a Mortgage Broker, before finding her true passion as a Peer Support Specialist in 2015. As a person with lived experience, Parker knows the true impact of delivering and receiving Person Centered care. Having practiced Peer Support in multiple states, including New York, Oregon and most recently Texas, Parker has experience in delivering peer services, supervising Peer Support Specialists as well as building and
implementing effective Peer Support teams in both state and private facilities. Parker has the privilege of sitting on multiple committees within Austin State Hospital and Health and Specialty Care System to ensure the Peer voice is included in conversations regarding the care we deliver. Parker’s experience and passion for Peer Support services has allowed her to work with organizations, as a keynote speaker, such as AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention), where she was featured as a Rising Star in the 2018 National Lifesavers newsletter.
