hospitalist at the department of medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. As the medical director for the Santa Clara County Medical Respite Program, Kuang developed an innovative program that gives homeless inpatients a safe place to recuperate after their hospital stay.

She is passionate about taking care of the most vulnerable populations and addressing social and environmental factors on both an individual and community level to improve and sustain health outcomes. She led a multidisciplinary team to coordinate post-hospital care and sustain long-term health, which saved an estimated $6 million in six years from avoided bed days alone. In recognition of her groundbreaking work, Kuang was awarded the 2015 California Health Care Safety Net Institute for performance excellence.
