Scott joined the Public Defender’s Office in July 2021 after three years representing kids with the Travis County Juvenile Public Defender’s Office. Before moving to Austin in 2017, Scott spent almost twenty years as a public defender in New York City - representing adults in the criminal system and parents facing abuse/neglect charges.

He started his career in the Criminal Defense Division of the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan, then spent the next several years at The Bronx Defenders, a nationally recognized, holistic public defender office. At The Bronx Defenders, Scott held many roles including Supervising Attorney, Team Leader, and for five years, Managing Director of the Family Defense Practice.

He is a graduate of Northeastern School of Law, and a former adjunct professor at both University of Texas and Seton Hall Law Schools.
