Originally from Maryland, Janel made her way to Houston, Texas before finally landing in Austin. Janel holds a B.S. in Sport Management and a J.D., both from the University of Texas at Austin.

Previously, Janel worked at the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Texas, where she litigated civil claims brought under the First, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments, and several federal and state statutes.

Janel is excited to be a member of the Travis County Public Defender team and is particularly looking forward to collaborating with and learning from her brilliant colleagues.
