Cecil attended both Austin Community College and Texas State University, earning a B.A. in psychology. During his time as a law student at Texas A&M, Cecil worked in a criminal defense and civil rights litigation firm, helping defend against a variety of criminal charges and participating in civil rights litigation against several jails. Cecil was also a member of the Texas A&M Civil Rights Clinic. In his free time during law school, Cecil created the first name and gender marker correction clinic in Tarrant County, which provided assistance and legal advice to community members who wished to change their legal name and gender markers. Cecil is fluent in English and American Sign Language (ASL). Cecil is currently working towards two additional degrees: an A.A. in Spanish, and another in creative writing.
