Services Available at Jonestown

SNAP food benefits are available at the Center once a month by appointment only. Please call the Jonestown Community Center at (512) 854-1500 to schedule an appointment.

Food Pantry can be accessed once every 30 days by residents of Travis County. An application is needed to get a food pantry. Food offered varies from week to week depending on availability. Please bring your own grocery bags with you to help us be green when you come for a food pantry.

Faxing for clients is permitted only on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm No exceptions.

The Jonestown Community Center offers free bread and tortillas for low income families Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Quantities are limited and bread distribution is on a first-come, first-served basis. The program is operated by volunteers. Rules for the program are posted at the Community Center and must be adhered to.

Our Computer Resources provide a computer, phone, fax and current information about jobs and services available. The Job Search has a 30 minute time limit per visit. Please check in at the front desk.

Assistance with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) applications available by appointment only, 512-854-1500. Applicants must bring required documents, which can be found on the USDA-FNS website.

Hill Country Ministries provides fresh foods on the second Friday of every month From 9:00 am-11:00 am

We have a social worker available here at the Center to talk with any resident in need. Our Social Worker provides clinical case management services to any residents of Travis County who want to develop a plan and create change in their lives. All Travis County residents are eligible to receive social work services; however eligibility criteria do apply for financial assistance and other programs.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays our partner agency Meals on Wheels and More provides a place for older adults to gather for games (bingo, dominoes, cards), conversation and a shared nutritious lunchtime meal.

Congregate Meal sites are FREE for everyone and open to ANYONE age 60 or over! There is no charge for the meal, but a donation can be made to Meals on Wheels and More if the participants want to do so. Come share good conversation, fun games and a meal with us. We'll be looking forward to your company. WE LOVE SEEING NEW FACES! Contact the Senior Lunch Program Manager at (512) 854-1505 to sign up.

The Travis County Community Center in Jonestown has a meeting area that can be reserved community groups (see last paragraph for examples). Space is available on a first come first served basis and can be used by groups that meet the following criteria:

  • No religious or political functions allowed at the Community Center
  • No charge or fee for attendees of any event held at the Community Center
  • Groups reserving the meeting area must have a community focus or benefit and cannot be for-profit
  • Events at the Community Center must be open to the public

Please contact us at the main number (512) 854-1500 if you have a request or question. Examples of groups that use our Meeting area include 12 step groups, neighborhood associations, early voting, Community Center Advisory Board Meeting, and public information and education meetings.

Volunteers are needed in our food pantry, for two hours a day, Monday – Friday between the hours of 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm Must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs. For more information, please call the Jonestown Community Center at (512) 854-1500.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
